Under the general supervision of an Accounting Administrator I (Supervisor), the Accounting Officer (AO) Specialist is responsible for performing accounting duties of average difficulty related to the activities related to the Accounts Receivable Unit. The incumbent independently posts deposits, processes reports of collections, invoices, billings, write-offs, payroll, reimbursements, and refunds. This includes the daily processing and posting in the Financial Information System of California (FI$Cal) system and reconciliation of the system.

This job can be done partly from home and partly from the office, based on California state rules. Sometimes, you may be able to work entirely from home, but the department will decide. You must live in California.

Special Requirements

Confidentiality

HCD Disclosure Requirements

Selected candidates may be subject to rules imposed by a Conflict of Interest Code that apply to HCD employees, which may require filing a Statement of Economic Interest (Form 700).

HCD conducts pre-employment background checks on all new to HCD or returning to HCD candidates. This position requires a background check to be cleared prior to being hired.

Per CCR 249.3, this job control may be used to fill subsequent vacancies.

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

• Knowledge and experience with the State Accounting process and year end process.
• Knowledge and experience using the Financial Information System.
• Knowledge and experience in accounting.
• Effective time management skills to complete tasks and meet deadlines.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Experience handling multiple projects and deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to effectively deal with governmental agencies.
• Strong Personal Computer (PC) knowledge and experience using Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Fi$cal and accounting databases.
