Job Description

Job Description: 

The Assistant General Manager (AGM) supports the General Manager in overseeing all aspects of daily operations within a cannabis dispensary in Ohio. This role ensures compliance with Division of Cannabis Control (DCC) regulations, provides operational leadership, fosters a culture of accountability and excellence, and contributes to achieving financial and service goals for the dispensary.

 

Duties & Responsibilities: 

Regulatory Compliance & Oversight:

  • Enforce compliance with all DCC rules.
  • Support management of all inventory controls, Metrc entries, and regulatory audits.
  • Assist in training staff on adult-use cannabis policies, including purchase limits, ID checks (21+), and packaging.
  • Monitor operational SOPs to ensure they reflect current state regulations and compliance protocols.
 

Daily Operations & Retail Management:

  • Scheduling, staff supervision, and floor coverage to meet operational needs.
  • Assist in overseeing product receiving, inventory reconciliation, sales floor presentation, and product rotation.
  • Manage opening and closing procedures, secure handling of cash, and oversight of POS systems.
  • Assist with sales reporting, KPI tracking, and implementation of promotional strategies in accordance with DCC restrictions.
 

Customer Service Leadership:

  • Ensure all customers receive a compliant, friendly, and efficient experience.
  • Resolve escalated customer issues or complaints in a professional, service-oriented anner.
  • Provide coaching and support to budtenders on communication, product education, and responsible sales.
 

Staff Development & Training:

  • Assist with interviewing, onboarding, training, and mentoring new employees.
  • Ensure completion and tracking of DCC-mandated training certifications.
  • Provide regular coaching, evaluations, and support for growth within the team.
  • Act as acting General Manager in their absence.
 

Communication & Reporting:

  • Generate and review operational reports, compliance logs, and incident documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with vendors, inspectors, law enforcement, and DCC representatives.
  • Maintain accurate records for employee activity, incidents, and compliance documentation.

 

Qualifications: 

  • Must be 21 years or older.
  • High school diploma or GED required, college degree in Business, Management, or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of retail management experience; cannabis experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Ohio DCC regulations or willingness to complete the required compliance training.
  • Proficient in Metrc, POS systems, Microsoft Office, and retail operations software.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.

 

Working Conditions: 

  • Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for extended periods.
  • Must pass a criminal background check and fingerprinting per DCC requirements.
  • Salary $55,000-$65,000 (depending on experience and interviews)
