Job Description

Sanford School Department is seeking a Band Teacher/Director with outstanding credentials to teach music at Sanford Middle School. Responsibilities include rehearsing for, conducting concerts and parades, and faciliating both small and whole group lessons.  There is also the opportunity to direct a Jazz Band program that meets after school in which a stipend is added.

The successful candidate should possess middle school band experience and/or a strong desire to teach at this level including instruction with all instruments.  They should also select music that keeps students engaged while having "fun" and present challenges for students to strive for.  Applicants should value fostering positive relationships with students, staff and the community and work collaboratively in a team environment.  In addition, effective classroom management, keeping accurate student records and incorporating technology into instructional practices are essential to the job. 

Applicants should hold a current #614 certificate or other appropriate certification as well as an up to date CHRC (fingerprinting)

Interviews will be held during the month of July.
