Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) Opportunity

The Psychiatric Institute of Washington (PIW) provides comprehensive behavioral healthcare for children, adolescents, adults, and senior adults suffering from mental health and addictive illnesses. PIW is a 152-bed, short-term, acute care hospital offering inpatient, partial and intensive outpatient hospitalization, as well as specialized treatment programs for chemical dependency. PIW has an excellent reputation as an innovative hospital with caring, dedicated staff, experienced in the delivery of behavioral healthcare. About The Opportunity:

The Chief Nursing Officer will be a key member of PIW's seasoned Leadership Team who will integrate and coordinate a patient centric nursing strategy with a keen focus on patient care; ensuring that delivery of high-quality and cost-effective health care is consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Universal Health Services and in accordance with government regulation, licensing and accreditation requirements.  The CNO will participate in the hospital’s strategic planning and contributes to the achievement of institutional goals and objectives. Our new CNO will drive results with a keen focus on finance, safety, risk management and compliance.  We value staff engagement through high levels of rounding and role-modeling and seek an excellent communicator that thrives on collaboration.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • RN Licensure: Current or eligibility for license to practice professional nursing in the District of Columbia
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing from a CCNE accredited nursing program required; Master of Science in Nursing strongly preferred.
  • At least five (5) years of experience in nursing administration and/or leadership experience in psychiatric or chemical dependency nursing required.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of behavioral health nursing clinical practices and management.  
  • Demonstrated knowledge of effective management and supervisory practices.  Highly developed written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to plan, direct, and monitor others’ activities with demonstrated leadership abilities that contribute to a positive work environment.
