Position Overview

The Job Developer role plays a vital role in connecting adult job seekers with meaningful employment opportunities and facilitating internship and apprenticeship placements for high school students. You will actively engage with employers to understand their hiring needs, cultivate relationships, and advocate for our candidates. Simultaneously, you will collaborate with local educational institutions and community partners to develop and manage internship and apprenticeship programs that align with students’ career aspirations and educational goals.

Your responsibilities will include conducting outreach to expand our network of supportive employers, customizing job placement strategies to match individual skills and aspirations, and providing ongoing support to ensure job retention and career progression. This role requires strong networking skills, effective communication abilities, and a passion for empowering individuals through workforce development. By bridging the gap between job seekers and employers, you will contribute directly to our mission of fostering economic empowerment and building a skilled workforce for the future.

Job Responsibilities

• Conduct outreach to employers to identify job opportunities that align with the skills and aspirations of adult job seekers.
• Customize resumes, cover letters, and job applications to match employer requirements and maximize job placement success.
• Coordinate job fairs, networking events, and recruitment activities to promote job openings and facilitate direct connections between employers and job seekers.
• Provide ongoing support to placed individuals to ensure job retention and career advancement.
• Function as a liaison between employers and community members to ensure alignment.
• Activate community members through outreach, community events, and other organizing opportunities. 
• Collaborate with John O’Connel High School, vocational programs, and community organizations to develop internship and apprenticeship opportunities for high school students.
• Create and manage partnerships with employers willing to provide meaningful learning experiences to students.
• Guide students through the application process, including resume building, interview preparation, and professional etiquette training.
• Monitor student progress during internships and apprenticeships, providing feedback and support as needed to ensure a positive learning experience.
• Maintain accurate records of job placements, internship/apprenticeship placements, and employer partnerships using database systems.
• Prepare regular reports on program outcomes, including placement rates, retention rates, and participant demographics.
• Ensure all data and reports are accurate, thorough, and timely to ensure compliance and evaluate the success of the program, maintaining an accurate record of the client’s progress.
• Work closely with other Workforce and Asset Building team members on shared initiatives.
• Work closely with other Workforce and Asset Building partners to keep the community up-to-date and connected to all available services.
• Participate in special projects as needed within MEDA and Asset Building Programs Department.
• Participate in other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bilingual Spanish and English required.
• BA or equivalent degree or equivalent experience required.
• 1-2 years of workforce development coaching experience preferred.
• Experience delivering financial education and coaching preferred.
• Knowledge of San Francisco’s workforce network is a plus.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Knowledge and proficient use of software technology that assists in tracking program results, including but not limited to MS Office, Salesforce, and Google Suite.
• Demonstrated organization and planning skills to effectively work in a non-structured environment and adapt to changes in priorities.
• Passion for serving underserved populations, particularly low-income individuals, immigrants, and English learners.
• HUD Certification or ability to pass the HUD Certified Housing Counselor Exam within 90 days of hire date.
