THE POSITION We are seeking a dedicated Mill Operator to join our manufacturing team at Open Book Extracts. In this role, you will be pivotal in ensuring the efficient operation of our milling equipment, contributing to the production of high-quality materials that meet our stringent specifications. Your expertise will help maintain our reputation for excellence and support our commitment to innovation and sustainability.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor milling machine(s) to ensure optimal performance and product quality
• Conduct regular inspections of equipment, troubleshooting and resolving minor mechanical issues as needed
• Maintain accurate records of production data, including quantities produced, downtime, and quality measurements
• Collaborate with quality assurance teams to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards
• Assist in training new operators on equipment operation and safety protocols
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and reduce waste

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Forklift operation / certification required
• Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues
• Basic understanding of safety regulations and practices in a manufacturing setting
• 2+ years of experience operating milling equipment in a manufacturing environment
• Familiarity with quality control processes and standards
• Certification in machine operation or related field

Physical Demands and Working Environment

• Proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous learning
• Must be able to lift and balance 25/50/70 pounds regularly and use tools such as dollies, pallet jacks, and forklifts when appropriate.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to perform grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
• Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time (4-6 hours) with frequent kneeling and bending.
• Work around plants, airborne particles, and chemicals with proper PPE.
• Must be comfortable working with and around heavy machinery.
• May experience moderately high noise levels.

Additional Details:

• Work Schedules follow the DuPont model:
  • Days: 6:00am-6:30pm, 3 days per week with alternating Wednesdays every other week
  • Nights: 6:00pm-6:30am, 3 days per week with alternating Wednesdays every other week
