Example of Duties:

Under general supervision, performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance and construction of all County grounds, parks, and recreational facilities and equipment. Work involves assisting in the performance of carpentry, electrical, masonry, plumbing, and painting tasks; installing road signs; landscaping; mowing; lining ball fields; c parks and grounds; training and performing limited supervision of temporary employees and inmates. Reports to the Recreation Maintenance Supervisor.

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma; 3 years’ experience in building repair or ground maintenance; or any combination of training and experience, which provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.
• Valid North Carolina driver’s license required upon hire and duration of employment. Out of state driver’s license will be accepted only if the individual is a permanent resident of that state.
• Custodial Agent of Division of Prisons certification required within six months of hire.
• North Carolina Pesticides (Ornamental and Turf) License required within six months of hire.
• Certified Pool Operator license required within six months of hire.
• Small engine repair certificate required within six months of hire.
• Must take and successfully pass a pre-employment drug test, Motor Vehicle Records driver license check, as well as submit to random, reasonable suspicion, and post-accident drug and alcohol testing. A criminal background check must be completed by the County of Robeson for potential applicants.
