Tow Truck Operator - Light Duty - Employee is paid an hourly plus commissions.
Summary: Perform towing, accident recovery, and abandoned vehicle recovery using the assigned truck and towing equipment correctly as trained. Present to customers a professional self-image and Company image through excellent service, safe operation, and timeliness. Maintain the truck and equipment in compliance with Company guidelines. Perform necessary documentation in a timely and accurate manner, following the procedures in effect.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (All other duties as assigned.)
- Arrive at work on time every day, ready for duty when the shift begins.
- Complete pre-shift and post-shift equipment checks daily and document these checks accurately.
- Excellent driving skills and a valid driver’s license (copy required to be kept on file).
- Ability to operate a tow truck (experience preferred but not required).
- Must keep accurate records of time worked and commissions earned using company-provided materials.
- Accurately calculate tow rates and understand tariffs to write complete and accurate paperwork.
- Must have a general understanding of vehicle mechanics, transmission types, front, and rear wheel drive vehicles.
- General sense of direction and understanding of maps, and the ability to navigate both day and night.
- Have a clean driving record and excellent work references.
- Must have a positive attitude, great work ethic, and be team-oriented.
- Follows management direction and leadership well.
- Work well independently, have initiative, and be dependable.
- Able to calmly handle stressful situations.
- Able to write and speak English well, and be able to communicate effectively with others.
- Work on call when needed, be conscientious about answering your phone when on call, and communicate with your team efficiently.
- Work in other areas, non-driving- when on shift/hourly time, at management's direction.
- Have no physical limitations against working in summer heat, winter cold, and rain.
- Be able to work at night and early mornings, this job requires intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, stooping, crouching, climbing, lifting, twisting, kneeling, and maneuvering material or equipment, some of which may be heavy (75+ pounds) or awkwardly shaped.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- DOT Medical Certification, & must be 25 years of age or older with a clean driving record.
- Towing certifications – Preferred but not required

Education and/or Experience:
- 1-2 years of related experience preferred but not required.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Bilingual – preferred but not required.
Language Skills:
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from manager(s)/supervisors, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
